Far East Land Bridge, a joint venture of Russian Railways Logistics, continues its geographic expansion by introduction of fast container train service on the new route linking China and Europe. The first train was dispatched on September 30 from Suzhou, China, via Zabaykalsk, Russia, Brest, Belarus, to Warsaw, Poland, and crossed the Russian border on October 4. Among the shipped cargo - electronics and technology items manufactured in China. The delivery is carried out in the framework of “Tran-Siberia in 7 days” project with the support of the Government of Suzhou. Average train speed on the territory of Russia exceeds 1000 km per day. According to preliminary calculations the train will reach the final point in Poland in 14 days.
According to Thomas Kargl, CEO of the Austrian FELB, the perspectives of the current project organized in cooperation with the government of Suzhou, PKP Cargo and Russian Railways Logistics on dispatching new speedy container train from Suzhou, industrial center in Eastern China, are promising, hence the volume expectation is estimated at three trains per week.
In the framework of the speedy container train project Russian Railways Logistics provides freight forwarding, customs clearance, information support and other services related to the provision of transit transportation on the territory of Russia and Belarus on the route via Zabaykalsk, Russia, and Brest, Belarus, of the length of over 7600 km.
Cooperation with Transport Development Group allowed to proceed the train at Zabaykalsk, Russia/Manzhouli, Mongolia, border crossing point at a record time of two hours by issuing electronic document and using a new universal software package. It is expected that based on the fast registration this train project will become a new competitive quality service in terms of cargo delivery time.
