Railways Logistics provides plant logistics for Severstal subsidiary.

Russian Railways Logistics opened separate subdivision at Balakovo station of Volga Railroad in the framework of raw materials and finished goods transportation optimization for Severstal Sort Plant Balakovo CJSC, a subsidiary of Severstal Russian Steel. RZD Logistics maintains the railway track on the territory of the plant of the total length of 15.7 km.

The new Severstal plant of annual capacity of over 1 mn tonnes was launched in Balakovsky district of Saratov region in 2013. In order to organize uninterrupted supply of raw materials for the production and export of finished goods from Severstal Sort Plant Balakovo RZD Logistics uses both shunting locomotives and Mercedes-Benz Unimog locomobiles and controls the electric signal center. In the future the company plans to export by rail up to 70% of the produced metal.

Since the start of cooperation Russian Railways Logistics has processed over 30,000 tonnes of cargo. Preliminarily the project was planned for three years. Russian Railways Logistics has already provided outbound and inbound logistics services for a number of industrial enterprises such as Guardian Steklo Rostov LLC and Ford Sollers Elabuga Assembly Plant.
