Russian Railways Logistics Signs Multimodal Agreement with China
JSC Russian Railways Logistics has joined forces with the Zhengzhou International Land Port Development and Construction Co. in a strategic cooperation agreement on the establishment of a new China to Europe multimodal container train service. The intention is to develop routes both ways between Zhengzhou – Moscow and Zhengzhou – Europe using existing freight hubs but the possibility of developing a new logistics terminal in Moscow is also under discussion. The partners have agreed on the use of a unified railway consignment note CIM/SMGS and on comprehensive cooperation in the transport and logistics market of Russia and the Republic of Belarus. Also the agreement affects temperature-sensitive goods transportation in the winter on routes between China and Europe and Central Asia - China.

Rail transit development through the territory of Russia is a key goal of Russian Railways Logistics in cooperation with its partner company Far East Land Bridge Ltd with whom it launched a rail borne container service between China and Poland a year ago. The Russian rail group also cooperates with YuXinOu (Chongqing, China), along with DB Schenker (another Far East Land Bridge partner), ‘Kaztransservice’, CRIMT and the Chongqing transport holding company. The new development is significant because of the importance of the centrally located Zhengzhou which has a population of over two million and is one of the most important trade and transport centres in the country. Schenker has been cooperating with Zhengzhou International on block trains for over a year and the Chinese group consolidates multimodal traffic in the region including air freight as well as road, rail and dry port services.
