The service will be operated by Far East Land Bridge Ltd, a subsidiary of RZD Logistics (a member of UTLC Group). FELB started to serve the route linking Hamburg and Shenyang since 2008. The block train is transporting automotive parts from BMW factory in German to Shenyang. It is the largest and most stable imported European block train. Since now the westbound regular train service is launched.
The whole journey of this route from Shenyang to Hamburg is around 11100km. It leaves Manzhouli in north China border to Russia and passes through Trans-Siberia Railway which reaches all the way through Russia/Belarus before entering Europe via Belarus. This route saves around three weeks compared with sea transportation mode and the door-to-door transit time is almost one third of the sea transportation in North China.
Speaking at a ceremony Thomas Kargl, Far East Land Bridge CEO, said the block train has a great potential. It can be as popular as Suzhou - Warsaw service.
