TransContainer, FELB and RZD Logistics have introduced a new transit service across Mongolia and Slovakia
PJSC TransContainer, Far East Land Bridge (FELB, the subsidiary enterprise of JSC RZD Logistics) and JSC RZD Logistics, the largest multimodal logistics operator in the CIS and Baltic countries, have successfully realized a new transit container service from China to Hungary across the territory of Mongolia, Russia, Ukraine and Slovakia.

The first freight train, which consisted of 41 40-foot containers with clothes, electronics and various equipment, departed from Changsha (Hunan province) on May 27th and arrived in Budapest (Hungary) on June 15th. Customs clearance of goods, phyto-measures, as well as cargo transshipment to a narrow gauge were fulfilled at PJSC TransContainer terminal in Dobra (Slovakia). The overall transit time across the territory of countries with track gauge of 1520 mm was 13 days, with transportation across Mongolia taking 3 days, across Russia – 7 days, across Ukraine – 3 days.

FELB operated the service, JSC RZD Logistics forwarded the freight across Russia and PJSC TransContainer provided the rolling stock, equipment and terminal service for cargo processing. ZSSK Cargo – the subsidiary company of Railways of Slovak Republic – became the project’s partner.

“We believe that clients who need to deliver cargo to Central and South Europe will be especially interested in this service. The successful experience of transportation across this route allowed to reduce the transit time by several days, whereas due to our own capacities in Dobra customs processing and transshipment to European track gauge are fulfilled in much shorter time”, – noted Sales and Business Development Director of PJSC TransContainer Alexander Podylov.

“Today the volume of transit from China to Europe is rapidly growing. These conditions require implementation of new services, which will allow us to distribute these growing amounts between various border points while keeping the speed and price for the benefit of clients. The joint service that has been recently introduced is expected to solve this problem. We are convinced that it will become popular in China and in Europe, as all participants of the project provided the high quality of all aspects of its implementation”, – said CEO of JSC RZD Logistics Vyacheslav Valentik.
