In July 2022, Russian Railways Logistics dispatched the first container train from Russia to India along the eastern branch of the North-South ITC. The train departed from the Chekhov station near Moscow and transited through the territories of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran to the port of Bandar Abbas. In the port the containers were reloaded onto a ship and delivered to the port of destination - Nava-Sheva (Mumbai, India). In total, the route length exceeds 8,000 kilometres. The key driver of this project is a balanced tariff policy of all route participants.

Delivery of oversized equipment


In March 2021, the delivery of oversized electrical equipment from Novosibirsk to St. Petersburg was organised for a Russian machine-building company. The 140 tonne cargo was shipped by rail on a special route on a 16-axle transporter wagon, then reloaded onto a truck and delivered to the installation site. A full range of dispatching services was also provided during the transport.

In August 2021, RZD Logistics realised a unique multimodal transportation of oversized power equipment for a Russian oil and gas company. Some parts of the cargo - switchgear in 23 modular container blocks - reached a size of up to 12 metres in length, 3 metres in width and 3.6 metres in height. The project involved several types of reloading. The cargo was transported by special road vehicles and 5 river barges. The cargo travelled 4200 km from Voronezh to Krasnoyarsk port on trucks, then it was reloaded onto barges and followed the Lena River for another 2 thousand km to the port of Dudinka. The cargo was delivered to the customer's site in Norilsk by motor transport.

In April 2022, RZD Logistics transported oversized power equipment weighing 216 tonnes over a distance of 1,262 km from Irkutsk to Zabaikalye. Specialists developed customised solutions for placing and securing the cargo. For the first time, a 16-axle platform-type transporter was used for such equipment. Previously, such cargoes were transported only on articulated transporters accompanied by conductors. The solution allowed to reduce the cost and shorten the delivery time of the equipment.

Multimodal transportation of a self-propelled rig


In June 2022, RZD Logistics realised the multimodal transportation of a self-propelled exploration drilling rig from Yekaterinburg to Magadan. The company acted as a single window to provide the client with a comprehensive service along the entire route of the cargo. From the territory of the manufacturing plant in Yekaterinburg the equipment was delivered by motor transport to Shartash station and reloaded onto a railway platform. The cargo was transported by railway to Pervaya Rechka station, reloaded by motor transport and delivered to the port of Vladivostok. There, the special equipment was loaded onto a vessel using the Ro-Ro method and proceeded to its destination by sea.

Modernisation of railway infrastructure of Balakovo NPP (2021)


Balakovo NPP is one of the largest nuclear power enterprises in Russia, supplying electricity to consumers in the Volga region, Central Russia, the Urals and Siberia. For JSC "Balakovo NPP" works on modernisation of the main railway tracks were performed. As part of the project to modernise 21.7 km of the main railway tracks, RZD Logistics performed the following works: dismantling of the railroad ties and switches, arrangement of the earth bed for construction and installation works, laying of the track with links of the railroad ties, ballasting of the track and switches, and dressing and finishing works.

Project Supply Chain Consulting for Zashikhinsky GOK 2022-2023)


A logistics project to organise the export of products and material and technical resources of the Zashikhinskoye Mining and Processing Division on the basis of the Zashikhinsky rare metal deposit to a chemical and metallurgical plant for further processing.

A multimodal logistic chain of concentrate transportation was developed from Zashikhinsky GOK to Nizhneudinsk transshipment station of the East Siberian Railway, further to Krasnokamensk station of the Transbaikal Railway, and at the "last mile" - by motor transport to the chemical and metallurgical plant.

Project Transport and logistics services for EVRAZ RUDA


RZD Logistics provided 3PL operator services to five branches of the company: Tashtagolsky, Kazsky, Gorno-Shorsky mines, Guryevsky limestone quarry and Abagurskaya concentrating and agglomeration plant.

The Company performed wagon delivery and removal, loading into wagons and cars, weighing, paperwork, and maintenance of the internal railway infrastructure. Ore was transported and unloaded at high speed to the concentrator and then to EVRAZ's steelmaking facilities. The average monthly haulage volume was around 10,000 wagons or around 700,000 tonnes.

As a result of logistics optimisation, the client's costs were reduced, loading technology was improved, delivery speed was increased and on-time delivery was guaranteed.

RZD Logistics established rhythmic shipments of raw materials to the enterprise, and developed and successfully implemented a multimodal delivery scheme using water and rail transport along the route: Gulluk port (Turkey) - Rostov port - Mikhnevo, Luzhki-Orlovskie, and Stalniy Kony stations of the Moscow railway. The complex of services also included chartering of the vessel and carriage to the Russian port, transshipment of cargo to the railway, delivery to the destination stations, preparation and clearing of wagons for loading, storage of cargo, customs brokerage services, checking the quantity and condition of cargo along the entire route.

Project Complex of 4PL services to organise the supply of raw materials and shipment of finished products for Larta Glass


Since 2012, RZD Logistics has been providing a comprehensive logistics outsourcing service for Larta Glass (formerly Guardian Glass) in Ryazan and Krasnoye Sulin. The company carries out planning and provision of raw material delivery and finished product export within the territory of the Russian Federation and CIS countries in the amount of 140 thousand tonnes per year, organisation of access roads operation, including wagon delivery and cleaning and their current maintenance, unified information support of all logistic business processes. Optimisation of internal and external logistics allowed the company to reduce the share of transportation costs in the cost of finished products and increase profits.

Project Supply of inert materials for the construction of the M-12 motorway "Moscow - Kazan"


RZD Logistics organised the delivery of inert materials for the construction of the M-12 motorway. The company acted as a single integrator of transport and logistics services. Rolling stock provision, payment of freight charges, round-the-clock dispatching, monitoring of loading rhythm and wagon progression en route, as well as seamless interaction of several dozen organisations involved in the process were ensured. Logistics is carried out on the basis of the South-Eastern, Sverdlovsk, Oktyabrskaya and North Caucasus railways. The project also involves 32 supporting transshipment stations of the Gorky and Moscow railways. Since 2021, RZD Logistics has delivered 8.11 million tonnes of inert cargo.

Consolidation of AIC cargo


In November 2021, Russian Railways Logistics realised the dispatch of a container train with vegetable oil in flexitanks from Russia to China in direct railway traffic. The train with 82 containers was sent from Barnaul through the Zabaikalsk-Manchuria border crossing and delivered more than 1,700 tonnes of rapeseed oil to Chongqing. Cargoes of 3 Russian producers were consolidated during the transport.

Transportation of the Talgo high-speed train


In 2021, RZD Logistics organised the transportation of a Talgo high-speed train for Uzbek Railways. The cargo arrived by sea to the Sea Port of St Petersburg. The assembled train was put on its axle and transported by railway from Novy Port station to Urtaaul station (Uzbekistan) through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In total, the cargo covered a distance of 8.2 thousand kilometres. "RZD Logistics acted as a consignor, ensuring the formation of the train, coordinating the work of all participants in the transportation process, organising the provision of locomotives and locomotive crews, and paying carriage charges in Russia.
