RZD Logistics launched the project on the delivery of molasses along the Western route of the INSTC
The branch of RZD Logistics in Rostov-on-Don has expanded its competencies in the sphere of transportation along the International North-South corridor and launched the project on intermodal delivery of molasses to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The first consignment with a weight of 300 tons was transported in the end of last year in 6 tank-containers by railway from the North Caucasus Railway to Astara station in Azerbaijan, where the cargo was transshipped to auto transport of a final consignee in Iran. Until now this type of cargo was transported only by autos.
The branch of RZD Logistics worked out a transport solution, taking into consideration the particular characteristics of liquid cargo, economic aspect of the project, rolling stock, as well as possible shipping points and route peculiarities. The branch controls the whole transportation process starting from picking up a load at the manufacturing facilities, railway delivery to Astara station and transshipment to auto, rolling stock provision, consigner services and shipping documentation.
“Our transportation solution allowed the client to sign additional international contracts and increase the volume of Russian agricultural export. The first consignment has already been received by the final consumer. To this date nearly 700 tons of cargo have been transported by railway, but the contract is a long-term one. The project implies the use of specialized rolling stock; the route is looped between the departure and arrival station. The declared volume exceeds 20 thousand tons. I am sure that in 2025 the logistics service on the INSTC will gain momentum”, – noted the head of RZD Logistics branch in Rostov-on-Don Artem Kolobov.
