RZD Logistics organized the delivery by the first full-fledged Agroexpress along the INSTC
JSC RZD Logistics and LLC "Dry Port Yuzhnouralsky" (is a part of GTLK) organized a multimodal delivery of oat-flakes and cereals produced by Resurs LLC (Uvelka trademark) by the first full-fledged Agroexpress train along the Eastern route of the International North-South Corridor.
31 20-foot containers were loaded at the Resurs LLC (Uvelka trademark) enterprise and sent from TLK Yuzhnouralsky (Formachevo station of South Ural Railway) to Sarakhs station (Turkmenistan) in transit through the territory of Kazakhstan. At the station of arrival the containers will be transshipped to 1435 gauge and will be transported to the port of Bandar Abbas across Iran, with further delivery by sea to the port Mundra in India.
“This is the first full-fledged Agroexpress train going from Ural region via the INSTC. According to some experts, the estimated volume of cargo transported across this corridor may in the nearest future amount to 100 thousand tons per year. Initially oriented at the export of Russian food products to China and the countries of Eastern Asia the Agroexpress service will gain a new impulse due to the advantages of the Eastern route of the INSTC. Uninterrupted railway connection with such countries as Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Iran across Kazakhstan, as well as additional perspectives for cargo transportation to the Persian gulf countries and Africa give Russian exporters an opportunity to find alternative sales markets for their products. Due to the increase of trade turnover between the countries participating in the INSTC and high interest to this corridor from Russian producers, the route is becoming more popular. The wide branch network of RZD Logistics allows to organize shipments of agricultural products, including temperature-sensitive cargo, along the INSTC from any part of our country”, - noted the RZD Logistics’ director of container logistics and agrologistics Alexander Sivertsev.
Since 2023, RZD Logistics organizes multimodal delivery across the INSTC on a regular basis. The company is constantly expanding the geography of shipments and the range of transported cargo. The first container train departed from Chelyabinsk-Gruzovoy station in April, 2023.
